Many things changed in the second decade of digital photography. In the last decade ( 2000 - 2010 ) digital cameras are still trying to find 'identity' then now that the maturity already evident in terms of technology and also the format of the camera. Once each year, camera vendors is always to increase the sensor resolution to remain marketable, and there is also a tight competition with zoom lens (from 10x, 20x, 30x zoom even more), and the first DSLR camera could not even do the live view. We briefly tried to analyze trends in digital cameras this year, hopefully you are interest continue reading it ....
1 : The rise of camera phones
2011 is arguably the year of smartphones and tablets, thanks to the success of the iPhone and the iPad followed by a variety of devices based on Android. Popping too many phones and tablets with a pretty good camera, auto focus lens, flash and have a high enough megapixels (5-8 MP). For most ordinary business of photography, cameras in mobile phones, especially smartphones are sufficient, even can be directly uploaded to Facebook, Twitter, and other social bookmark sites. Ease back, whenever there are moments that need to be photographed, we can just snap because the phone is always setted on our hand. For printing 4R size photographs of any taste of modern mobile phones should be pretty good enough.
2 : Pocket Camera slam their price
3: super zoom camera slowly disappear
First camera with 10x zoom lens has been considered a super zoom camera, now even a pocket camera can zoom above 15x. Some was specially designed to have a telephoto lens with a focal length made for those who are crazy zoom, so comes the camera with 20x optical zoom up to 36X zoom. Though the lens focal length is used, the more need to have a large aperture lens that can still put on a fairly fast shutter speed. As an illustration, the 800mm lens needs to use a shutter speed of 1 / 800 sec so that images does not blur due to shake. Limitations and constraints that make super-zoom camera just beautiful in the specification but is not effective in practice. No wonder, we are no longer hear any news about super zoom camera that used to be.
4 : Camera quick lens pocket began to demand
Most of us crave a pocket camera that produce good picture. For that purpose is to use the ISO as low as possible. But compact cameras today have a lens with a small aperture (or slower lenses) that create a lot of light can not enter into the sensor. This slow lens forces us to use slow shutter, or if you do not want to slow down the shutter so the solution is to raise the ISO. In fact this is the enemy of a pocket camera, the noise at high ISO. This dilemma is answered by the presence of a pocket camera that has a large aperture (f / 2 even f/1.8) or commonly called the fast lens. So wherever possible we do not need to use high ISO. Some are quite expensive but very popular and much praise was given in camera review, such as the Lumix LX5, Canon S95 and Olympus XZ-1.
5 : The EVIL Camera spread threats
Evil is not an evil spirit that haunts the photographers. Here it means EVIL was Electronic Viewfinder Lenses Interchangable, in the other words camera that had a removable lens but not a DSLR (because DSLR using the optical viewfinder). The camera can also be spelled EVIL mirrorless camera, but since the presence of cameras Sony SLT (Single Lens Translucent) then the EVIL camera can also be designed using mirrors though not exactly like the mirror in a DSLR. Now the other brand like Canon and Nikon all have their representatives EVIL camera segments. Eg Sony with NEX (mirrorless) and SLT, Panasonic and Olympus with Micro Four Thirds and the is with Pentax with Pentax Q is a cute tiny. Products that there was already getting better, eg Sony's SLT camera claimed to have the fastest auto focus speed on live view, then there is the Olympus PEN and Lumix G-GH-GF are complete and getting cheaper. Threat on a DSLR? Of course.
6 : DSLR will not change much anymore
DSLR camera is now much more modern in terms of its features. But the basics of DSLR remains unchanged ie until whenever the 'tradisional'of a DSLR will still be there, like a mirror reflex, AF module and separated light meter module , pentamirror or pentaprism and shutter units that have age restrictions. Currently DSLR is ripe in features, even with the price of $600 has been able to have a full DSLR, high resolution, full HD movie and could have a variety of digital though therein. Then it would be like what the next DSLR? It was not much has changed again.
7 : The rise of three-dimensional photography
3-dimensional video has been common, usually by wearing special 3D glasses to watch it. But for a photo or still images, 3D techniques are still a rare thing. To get a 3D image is using two lenses are given a slight difference paralax then combined the results so as to resemble the human eye looking at an object. Now started found a camera with multiple lenses for 3D images and increasingly supported by the emergence of an LCD screen that can display 3D images both LCD TVs and even on the smartphone screen.
8 : Touch screen and connectivity become a common feature
Now some new cameras have allowed us to operate the camera by touching the screen. One of the convenience of it's facility is a time to determine the point where you want to create a focus, then simply touching it. Also in this era of wireless transfer of photos and video files can be done using WiFi frequencies.
That's eight trends that we conclude is happening this year and will continue to the coming year. My prediction someday pocket cameras and super zoom cameras will be gone, all replaced by a system camera body-lens pair is at a low price. That is what will be owned by the major photographers. While for everyday wear we can use handphone camera and for the rofessional needs a DSLR camera should be used. Do you have another opinion?
