The X10 seems do everything instantly. This is a very unique camera that is perfect for persons who appreciates the manual manipulations to get the shot the way you envision it. Virtually every "scene" setting (such as: Portrait, Soft Portrait, Landscape, etc) and "film" setting (Standard, Soft, Vivid, Monochrome, Sepia, etc) are features that I could see myself actually using on occasion for quick, one-shot pleasing effects.
