My first condition was the focal distance. The reason I am buying the lens is for a super-wide angle, in order that the 10mm of the Nikon vs. the 11mm of the Tokina was the most significant concern. Published spec indicate a 109 Deg Field-of-View as a way for the Nikon, and 104 Deg for the Tokina. Doing a little of math suggests a 4 % wider image for the Nikon.
But what does that actually mean? I eventually found a review online with the same exact photograph taken by the Nikon @ 10mm and the Tokina @ 11mm. You surely could tell the deviation if you actually looked at the pics close, but setting the photographs nearby to each other, you sincerely could not notification the difference when taking in them "casually". It will be that we naturally look to the middle of a photo, but the size of it difference was insufficient that it forced your desire onto the corners.
