Well if you are look this fine piece of Photographic equipment odds are you have been to the Canon site and read the specs. I will touch on a few of the items I have noticed since I bought mine and have been using it.
- The feel, just much like the 1D M3, this beast is solid. Not too heavy, but solid into the hand. Put weather condition varnishing to a test, and precisely like my trusty 1D M3, the 1Ds passes with flying colors.
- Yes its 21.1 MP, but that should not be most of your thoughtfulness to buy it. Yah 18x12 @ 300Dpi out of the Camera is nice, but nost people dont print over 16x20, and I have sold lots of prints from my old 20D at that size or maybe even upto 20x30, as long as you shoot it right in the first place. But this is also a drawback likewise. Basically because of the large file size, esp in Raw, and most, if not all, buyers of the particular body will is merely shooting in raw, be aware so you might will need larger CF cards for it. At least 8gig, I use 12Gig for mine, extreme 3's and they work great! Also be mindful if you use the interior high iso noise processing, it retard the buffering lots!!!.
- Full Frame, simply like the former 1Ds models its a ful frame sensor. The store's intends 2 things, not merely does a 17mm or 14mm lens again be a true wide angle lens, but also with the bulky sensor the pixels become more refined and this allows better color and less grain.
- The colors of each and every images from files. WOW Again the 14bit processors are amazing!!! Esp for raw, where that you might import it in as 16bit for the finer details. One negative is if you use Photoshop, you will need CS3 to do the raw Conversions, if you can't use the Canon program.
- You are getting close to the image quality of a Dig MF camera, with the portability of a Dslr! Let alone you can use all the Canon EF lenses, and this camera genuinely should only when be used in relation to L series lenses when possible, except for the fisheye as its not integral an L series but the quality is inexpensive anyways. As the Quality of the optics is what impairs the quality of the image the a lot, otherwise settings in the camera, ie shutterspeed and AV, ISO, etc...
- Wonderful Accesories for the important camera. I love my wft-e2a. I use it on my 1D M3 much and it works great on the 1ds likewise. Its a fantastic way to command your camera remotely or to send out your files to a far off computer for processing and such if you end up still shooting.
This Camera is great. The new nikon d3, and its a huge grown camera within the last few models, but it does not compare to the top of the line Canon!!!! This unique camera will likely not let you down. The noise if shot right is absolutely not even acknowledged until iso 1600 and so you still got to look. ISO 3200 is yet great (about the same disturbance grain my chum had on his d200 at iso 400!!!!!)! If you absolutely are a Pro and degree of camera that may perform the best and give rattling results, this is it. It kicks back butt compared to any other thing throughout the DSLR market place!!!.
